My most significant lesson was the surface modeling projects and the modifiers. They helped me the most when creating detailed pieces. The last model I have finished, the Sky Kid (last slide below), used surface modeling and modifiers the most. I have also taught myself how to use lights after figuring out standard lights do not work with arnold renderers when making the chess piece. This made me play around with the scene more and made models like the More with Modifiers project look better than it was. The models I have chosen showcases how I have grown as an artist; the first few projects were way less detailed, have no lighting, and are more basic than the more recent ones. The recent ones compared to the old ones have more effort and time added to them. They are much better rendered, have better details, and feel more like a proper model. These models help me improve my digital art outside of class as it helps me better understand things in the third-dimentional way. I also plan on maybe using the 3d models I have created, especially the more scenic models, to help me create 2d art by using it as background references or shading references. I plan on creating more of these models too for other purposes, like maybe creating models for a game that I could develop in the future. I believe that I could improve much more on texture as I have not learnt that properly yet. I know how to do the basics like making things translucent, but I have not been able to effectively create noise or bumps on any models yet. Still, I have improved a lot from the beginning, and I plan on improving more in the future.
